How to Keep Warts Away

Warts are often associated with witches and toads, neither of which are all that attractive, so it comes as no surprise that people in general would like to keep warts away. Not only are they unappealing to look at, but warts are difficult to get rid of, can spread, and can even be painful, especially if found on the bottom of the foot.

Treating Warts on Feet

Despite popular belief, making a habit of not handling toads is not going to keep you wart-free, and sorry, but there are no magic potions or spells that can be concocted either! Instead, to prevent warts, you need to take precautionary steps to avoid the human papillomavirus, or HPV. This virus needs but a tiny opening in the skin to enter and cause the formation of a wart, so first and foremost, make sure if you have a cut or scratch to protect it with a bandage. Keeping your skin clean and dry is also essential, as is staying clear of anyone who has a wart. The virus is highly contagious and can easily spread from person-to person, and that’s not all! Not only do you have to avoid the person, but anything that person touches. Borrowing towels and sharing pedicure tools, socks, and shoes are all bad ideas – don’t do it!

Lastly, you can keep warts away by making sure you always wear sandals or shower shoes in warm, damp, locations where the virus could be lingering from those who visited before you. This includes places like pool decks, saunas, locker rooms, and gym showers.
